We would like to conduct a very brief poll to gauge interest in a milk program (where parents can choose to pay a small amount to provide their child with cold milk several days a week).
You can fill out the single question survey here.

The Montessori Society of Canada will be holding its fifth National Conference in Ottawa, from November 9 to 11, 2007 at the Chateau Laurier. One of the key speakers this year is Alfie Kohn, who will speak on the Friday Evening, November 9th. Tickets are $25.00 and available to all, with 500 spots available.
From his bio:
Alfie Kohn writes and speaks widely on human behavior, education, and social theory. His eleven books include PUNISHED BY REWARDS (1993), BEYOND DISCIPLINE: From Compliance to Community (1996),THE SCHOOLS OUR CHILDREN DESERVE: Moving Beyond Traditional Classrooms and “Tougher Standards” (1999), THE CASE AGAINST STANDARDIZED TESTING (2000), UNCONDITIONAL PARENTING (2005), and most recently, THE HOMEWORK MYTH (2006).
[more]Kohn has been described by Time magazine as America's "most outspoken critic of education’s fixation on grades [and] test scores." His criticisms of competition and rewards have helped to shape the thinking of educators -- as well as parents and managers -- across North America and abroad. Kohn has appeared on numerous TV and radio programs, including the “Canada A.M.” and two appearances on “Oprah.” He lectures widely at universities and to school faculties, parent groups, and corporations, as well as speaking at staff development seminars and keynoting national education conferences. Kohn’s articles include “Feel-Bad Education: The Cult of Rigor and the Loss of Joy” in Education Week; “Five Reasons to Stop Saying ‘Good Job!’” in Young Children; and “Raising Children Who Care" in NAMTA Journal. Kohn lives (actually) in the Boston area and (virtually) at www.alfiekohn.org.
