LADY EVELYN ALTERNATIVE SCHOOL WELCOMES NEW PRINCIPAL
Lady
Evelyn Alternative School welcomed the centennial school year with
new principal, Lori Lovett. Mrs. Lovett has an education career of
over 18 years, including JK to Grade 8 and special education;
teaching in the gifted program, and with children having learning and
physical disabilities.
Lori comes to Lady Evelyn from Forest Valley ES in Orleans, a JK-Gr.5 school of 450 students. She has particular interest in bringing the arts community into the school; having been involved with Art Smart projects and Artist in Residency programs in prior assignments. Lori also has a keen interest in physical education and has been involved in coaching soccer, volleyball, cross-country running and track and field programs. Personally, she is an avid cyclist, swimmer, and skier (“in my spare time !”). With her new assignment as principal of Lady Evelyn and mother of three, Lori admits that spare time has been at a minimum since September.
Another interesting aspect of her past teaching career has been her involvement in a teacher exchange program with Sweden. She is hoping to begin at least one such international language program at Lady Evelyn. There are also plans to twin with a Swedish and Peruvian school to exchange professional ideas about education and to have the students share their stories and thoughts with each other.
“Lady Evelyn School has a very professional and eager staff. I am excited to be working with the staff, students, and parents. Everyone has been very welcoming. It is a very caring and supportive school community. A strong history of parent and community involvement has created a rich learning environment in the school. Our goal is to nurture academic and personal growth for all of the students”.
The school is celebrating it's 100th year of being a community school. We are looking forward to the 100th Celebration on Saturday, October 22 from 1:00-5:00. All alumni all invited to join in on the celebration.
